A superb evening of glorious music filled All Saints Church on 7th November 2015. We were delighted to see so many friends, family and Hertford residents in the audience.

In the words of one audience member.... "I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed "The Messiah" last night. I thought it was a really wonderful and moving experience. Thrilling!"

HCS was proud to sponsor the Hertford Museum's summer exhibition 'Beautiful Noise'  which explored the diverse musical heritage of our county town and surrounding villages.  Covering 300 years of musical history, visitors discovered how we have recorded, performed and listened to music through a mix of collections, oral history recordings and images.

Our own choir history dating back to 1938 is definitely something to be celebrated! We are delighted to be exhibiting a selection from our own valued and extensive archives and there are also oral history recordings from past and present choir members as well as a recorded sample of our musical performance.

We are especially pleased that a small group of 6 HCS singers (plus Derek Harrison as musical accompanist) opened the exhibition's accompanying Saturday afternoon 'Gallery Sounds' sessions of live music, from 2.30pm - 3pm on Saturday 11th July 2015.

Thank you to all those who supported us and the exhibition!

On Saturday 18th April, Hertford Choral Society in conjunction this year with The Sele School, Hertford, arranged Raise your Voice 2015. This event, now in its second year attracted 118 delegates to a thoroughly energetic day, consisting of two workshop sessions led by the composer, educator, music director, recording artist and judge on BBC TV "The Choir", Ken Burton. The music that held our attention varied from African American folk songs through to a session of improvised composition via the opening chorale to the St Matthew Passion by JS Bach in full four part harmony; all without a black dot in sight. In fact the only black mark on the day, if there was one, was the weather outside.......it was far too sunny!
