Instead of our usual summer concert, we spent a hot June weekend recording for our latest CD - Their Sound Has Gone Out.

The CD will feature a representative selection of Hertford Choral Society's recent repertoire.  It also includes percussion, Accordion5 and the marvellous organ and piano playing of Peter Jaekel and Sue Graham Smith, and all conducted by our musical director Derek Harrison.

The CD will be ready for sale in the autumn and, priced at £10, will make a super Christmas present for friends and family ... more details will appear nearer the time and you can pre-order via our HCS Shop page here.

April 23rd 2016 was a day to remember for Hertford Choral Society and our many guest participants in a Singing Day held at Presdales' School, Ware.

The registration team relax in the calm after the rush at the registration desk.

The day was expertly led by Benjamin Goodson and Derek Harrison.

Much fun and enjoyment was evident as participants practised,

and then performed, pieces as various as Mamma Mia and Zadok the Priest to a small but enthusiastic audience who came along at the end of the day.

The success of the event was made possible by a generous grant from Hertford Town Council to whom go our very grateful thanks, pictured Mayor of Hertford Linda Radford and Councillor Peter Ruffles.

Our many non-HCS participants said they greatly enjoyed the day and the experience of singing with HCS - just as we enjoyed welcoming them along.

A super day all round - thank you to Presdales School and to everyone involved, including Frances Green and June Crew for the photos.

Saturday 27th February saw Hertford Choral Society in a workshop rehearsal for Dream of Gerontius at Richard Hale School, Hertford.

We were delighted to have Simon Baggs as our lunchtime speaker providing a fascinating and insightful account of the composing and first performances of the marvellous piece. Simon is also the leader of the orchestra for our concert at All Saints on Saturday 19th March.

"A Christmas Sparkle" concert was a Christmas celebration for all the family, and, as is traditional, at the end included a collection on behalf of HCS-supported charities.

One of our HCS-supported charities for Christmas 2015 was the Hertfordshire Charity for Deprived Children and Peter Bodden, HCS Chair, and Derek Harrison, HCS Musical Director, were delighted to present Ralph Paddock from the charity with a cheque for £646.52 in support of their good work.
