Hertford Choral Society is having its Christmas break and we re-start rehearsals from Tuesday 8th January 2019 at Sele School, Hertford, SG14 2DG. If you are interested, or in coming along in January, please be in touch.

New members are very welcome to join, whatever your level of experience. You have the opportunity to join Taster Rehearsals free and, if you decide you would like to sing with us, you can do so for a term for a Taster Fee of £20, including music.

HCS is a non-auditioned choir, you can find out more about a typical rehearsal here or contact our Membership Secretary, Trish Goldsmith, on 01992 589730 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.   Don’t hesitate to ask any question at all.

We look forward to welcoming you to HCS!

Singers from Hertford Choral Society will be leading the Mayor's Christmas Carols at the Castle on Friday 7th December 2018 at 5.30pm at Hertford Castle.  Please do join us!

Tea, coffee and mince pies will be served in the Castle.

All welcome!

A collection will be taken for the Mayor's chosen charities: Prostate Cancer UK and St John Ambulance.

This publication, researched and written by two choir members, documents the music, fun and friendship that has been the hallmark of the choir for 80 years.  For the first time, information about its conductors, musical achievements and many aspects of life on the inside of a choir are brought together in a fascinating read. The publication was part-funded by a generous grant from the University of Hertfordshire Heritage Hub and is available to purchase at £12 (including p&p) here

As part of Hertford Choral Society's 80th anniversary celebrations our chairman, Peter Bodden, was interviewed by Chris Hubbard of BOBfm; please listen to the interview here:

Peter was interviewed the morning after the formal launch of the anniversary season when over 80 people attended at Hertford Castle. The event was opened by Mark Prisk MP, himself a chorister with the Parliament choir, and included a musical interlude by Natasha Page accompanied by Sue Graham Smith.
