Are you new to singing (or a bit rusty!?)

Have your first two weeks free on us – come along and see what you think. After that, if you’d like to join us, we ask for a membership fee in the 3rd week. However, your first term’s fee is only £20.

Are you familiar with singing?

Join for a single concert and rehearsals

We welcome experienced singers who would like to join us to sing a particular choral piece.  The current one-concert minimum fee is £75.00

Should you then decide to sign up for the rest of the season, our Treasurer will discuss the balance of fee payable.

Join for a season

If you join us for a season (September to June – typically four concerts) we offer a discounted termly rate over the single concert fee.  The current minimum one-season membership fee is £200

We take payment by bank transfer, cheque or cash. Members who join for a whole season may pay in termly instalments. Discounted rates are available for members under 30 years of age (£20/term) and cases of hardship will be given sympathetic consideration.

The cost of membership

The level of HCS fees is considered each year and may be altered. Notice of any increase will be given to members.

The above fees are all quoted as minimum figures; many members choose to donate an additional sum to support the running of their choir… but, while this is very welcome, it is NOT obligatory.

Membership fees are set at a level that allow HCS to stage a high quality of concert, and rehearse to a standard that supports this.  Each fee contributes towards the cost of rehearsals, hire of venues, accompanist and MD fees, an annual workshop and music hire.

To put it into perspective, a full season’s minimum fee works out at under £10 a rehearsal, which makes it more than equivalent to the cost of many other nights out and, we believe, EXCELLENT value!

When do you pay?

Payment for a full season MUST be received by the end of September. Termly payments must be received by the 3rd week in each term

Gift Aid

Forms are provided to enable us to claim Gift Aid, where relevant, on membership fees.
